What is CrossFit Kids?

CrossFit Training for Kids & Teens in East Auckland CrossFit Kids is not simply a scaled down version of CrossFit, it is entirely and absolutely CrossFit geared toward kids and their specific developmental needs. CrossFit Kids is the principal strength and conditioning program for many young athletes and the primary P.E. program for many home schools, charter schools. It is used by athletic teams, martial arts schools and many parents that want their kids to grow up healthy, strong and have a life long love of working out and achieving goals, thus avoiding the common problems associated with childhood inactivity and obesity. Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specialising. Healthy living requires that our kids push, pull, run, throw, climb, lift, jump, effectively and safely regardless of whether or not they are athletes. Athletics is a specialised pursuit. Our goal is to support the specialist, but reward the generalist. The CrossFit Kids program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for 4 year olds and elite high school athletes. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs. About our Kids Programme

CrossFit East Auckland's Gen RX'd CrossFit Kids programme is a fitness programme especially designed for kids and teens combining movements from gymnastics and athletics into a fun, action packed fitness programme that helps kids develop endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance & accuracy. As our children are becoming more and more sedentary and with childhood obesity rising at an alarming rate, there is a growing need to incorporate health and fitness into the lives of our kids. By laying a solid foundation of fitness ideals from an early age, we can reduce risk of disease, injury, and build a better future for our young ones. Since CrossFit is a generalist program, our kids program follows a similar philosophy. We cover the broad skills and movements essential for life and athletics. Improvements in the gym translate directly to better performance on the rugby field as well as the playground. Sessions are structured around a briefing, warm-up, technical focus and a workout of the day known as a 'WoD' and games. Emphasis is placed on kids having fun exercising, reaching goals and teamwork. In addition good nutrition and effective study habits are also actively encouraged. CrossFit East Auckland's Kid's and Teen's coaches must complete a rigorous program of certifications, background screening and internship prior to leading a CrossFit Kids class. All of our CrossFit Kids Coaches are required to achieve CrossFit and CrossFit Kids certifications, followed by many hours observing and assisting in class.

Kids learn more complex movements in addition to individual skill building. This class is structured to provide our kids with a continuation of fundamental movements, but also introduces more dynamic skills such as handstand forward rolls, different squatting/pressing/deadlifting, and pull-ups. More partner and team building drills are included to create a sense of community.

Teens - From 12 years +

Our Teens programme is designed to be universally scalable strength and conditioning program designed for 13-17 years old athletes and non-athletes alike. The programme combines Olympic & Power lifting with Gymnastic movements, bodyweight exercises and running – and executing at them high intensity, we significantly improve fitness and athletic performance. We place an extra emphasis on form and technique, not permitting our athletes to increase bar loads until they demonstrate an ability to master proper form for every movement. Proper technique is critical to effective strength & power gains without injury. We know this will benefit the athlete in our gym, and as important, when they’re training on their own at school or with their friends.

If your teenager is already an athlete, our programme is designed to take them to the next level by teaching mechanics, recovery, movement, nutrition, mobility and flexibility. Gen RX'd Teens is ideal for any teenage athlete looking to get the edge over the competition in their chosen sport. If your teenager is not an athlete, our programme is guaranteed to help them establish healthy lifestyle habits, and convert them from a sedentary lifestyle to a more active, prolific one. Our primary goals are to educate that fitness can be fun, and help these teens develop a positive self-image.

Private Kids and Teens Coaching

Our CrossFit East Auckland Kids and Teens coaches also offer private coaching to kids of all ages. The coaching is structured to give the child progressive training in gymnastics and strength training. The coach will work with you and your child to develop a program geared toward general fitness, proper movement, and/or complex skills that translate directly to sport. Private coaching is recommended if your child been sedentary for a long period of time, has significant health limitations, or would thrive in an environment with additional attention and accountability. Team Strength & Conditioning Programme

CrossFit East Auckland's coaches are experienced in acting as the strength and conditioning coaches for school sports teams. If you are a team sports coach looking to get your team stronger and fitter and want to help your kids avoid injury, then a CrossFit-based strength and conditioning program is for you.
